Tales of pirates continue to strike our imagination. While we have the Pirates of the Caribbean movies to thank for really taking them worldwide mainstream, pirates had been growing in popularity even before Johnny Depp’s great character, Captain Jack Sparrow, flounced across the screen.

The pirate festivals from Florida up the eastern seaboard across to Texas and up through Seattle were experiencing a boom somewhat heralded by the Renaissance Faires.

Now a great tale of pirates, in Mad Kestrel, has launched and many people are thoroughly enjoying the fun with this novel.

Take this Mad Kestrel review over at Angieville. Like Misty said, “she gets it”. The book was meant to be fun, in which the reader slowly learns what the fantasy world is like. There are no “info-dumps” to explain the details of the world.

You aren’t supposed to be spoon fed information you shouldn’t know. As you read, the world should unfold and be a process of discovery.
